What is bed and breakfast?
Accommodation in a private house, offering normally no more than six places, with your own bedroom and a full breakfast guaranteed. You may have en-suite or private bathroom facilities (see below), TV in your room or in a separate guest lounge, and many other options.
The standard of bed and breakfast in Plockton is very high and you will be assured of a warm welcome and a comfortable stay.
Grading
The Scottish Tourist Board has recently changed its grading of member establishments. Inspectors award stars (previously crowns). Two stars — good, three stars — very good. Many in Plockton feel that these gradings are somewhat arbitrary.
Some bed and breakfasts choose not be members of the Tourist Board, on grounds which are not related to quality. We've marked these (in the individual bed and breakfasts pages) as Independent. Their standard is equal to member establishments.

  • single: one single bed

  • twin: two single beds
  • twin/double: two double beds

  • en-suite: a shower or bathroom in the bedroom
  • private: sharing a shower or bathroom with other guests or with sole use
  • shared: sharing a shower or bathroom with the family

Single Rooms
In the summer, some bed and breakfasts without a single room may ask people traveling by themselves for the price of two in a twin or double room. Off season, most are happy to accommodate the solo traveler in a twin or a double for the price of one.
Departure
Guests leaving are usually asked to vacate their rooms by 10:00. If staying on, they may be asked to vacate for a short time to service the room.
