From Inverness via Achnasheen routes

Route note: substantial road improvements before Achnasheen make this route now clearly quicker compared to Invermoriston and Ness-side. Watch out for deer.
1. Cross the Kessock Bridge over the Beauly Firth and head for the Tore roundabout.
2. At the roundabout, head for Conon Bridge and Contin on the A835. Continue through to Garve.
3. Continue through Garve. After Garve, turn left off the A835 (which continues to Ullapool) onto the A832 and head for Achnasheen.
4. At Achnasheen, turn left off the A832 (which continues to Gairloch) onto the A890 and head for Kyle of Lochalsh.
5. At the junction with the A890 at the head of Loch Carron, do not carry straight on to the village of Loch Carron. Turn left onto the A890 and pass through Strathcarron heading for Kyle of Lochalsh.
6. Pass the turning to Stromeferry and
either: continue on the A890 to the junction with the A87 at Auchertyre. Turn right here and head for Kyle of Lochalsh. In the village, take the road marked Plockton. Continue on the mainly single track road to the village.
or: shortly after the turning to Stromeferry, turn right off the A890 onto the unclassified single track road marked Achmore, Duncraig and Plockton. Pass through Achmore and follow the signs to Plockton.
Route note:  The last route is shorter but at night or in bad conditions, or with a caravan or larger vehicle, it may be preferrable to take the longer route via Kyle.
