Outdoor bowling green financial appeal
Plockton Bowling Club is in the process of purchasing a site at Innes Street (below the Church) for the establishment of an all-weather bowling green.
Planning permission has been received and the sale of the site should be concluded by the end of July.
It is expected that, between purchase and construction, the total cost will be in the region of £80-90,000. An application for funding is in the process of being made to SportScotland (National Lottery) and it is anticipated that our club will need to raise in the region of £10,000.
As this facility will be of great benefit to locals and visitors alike any contribution (however small or large) will be much appreciated. With a little bit of luck and effort there is no reason why this facility could not be open for the Summer of 2002.

(January 2002) Plockton Bowling Club is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a substantial grant (£33,743) by sportscotland (National Lottery) towards the construction of an all-weather bowling green close to Plockton Primary School. This is in adition to awards already made by the Community Land Unit and Plockton & District Community Council to whom we are very grateful. Many thanks to all who contributed to our last appeal (£540 raised). In addition, we are in negotiation with the Highland Council and Skye & Lochalsh Enterprise for further funding, and should know the outcome shortly.
However, our own fund-raising target is between £9,000-10,000 of the total cost of £74,000. In order to make this project a reality, we still need to raise around £2500. As this facility will be of great benefit to locals and visitors alike, any contribution financially or otherwise will be much appreciated. This project will be the first of its kind in Skye & Lochalsh and should prove a tremendous boost for tourism.
If all goes to plan, we would hope to start construction in March with competion and start of play commencing in May 2002.
Please help us to make it a reality.
