Despite missed deadlines, Highland Council and Peter MacMillan (Scotland's Top Hostels) are still engaged in negotiations over the company's controversial plan to lease Duncraig Castle as a backpacker hostel and outdoor centre. Mr MacMillan has accepted a reduction in his bed count from 200 to 100, although he has in the past said that this lower figure was nonviable Other matters remain outstanding, and with major refurbishment and infrastructure required, it is unlikely that he can open this year.
