Jewel of the Highlands
It's no wonder as Plockton is so perfectly picturesque that it has always attracted painters and photographers. Famous ones too! The light is quite unique. Looking across to the Crags when the setting sun hits them in late summer, the intense golden orange is awesome. Early sunrises, late sunsets and in between ever changing nuances of light across the bay and over the ranges of hills beyond- make any view magically exciting.
Art tutors and teachers bring enthusiastic groups of students here. Professional painters bring their easels and canvases Photographers arrive with huge lenses!
Plockton attracts creative people!
The Studio sells sketch books and pencils if you want to give ita try! The village hall committee generously allows art exhibitions, craft days and photography shows to happen with regularity throughout the year. Always worth checking out the notice boards to see What's On.
The Shores has different Scottish artists exhibiting every 6 weeks and both the Plockton Hotel and the Plockton Inn have their walls full of interesting artwork. So as well as enjoying fantastic views from every angle and in all weathers, you'll find there's a surprising amount of exciting Artistic activity happening in Plockton.
